Childcare

  • MIT offers subsidized backup child care for MIT graduate students. This program is sponsored by the Office of Graduate Education and administered by the MIT Work-Life Center. MIT graduate students can request up to 10 child care referrals per academic year (July 1 – June 30). In-home care is available any time of day or night, any day of the week and in-center care is available Monday through Friday, during daytime hours.   • MIT Technology Childcare Centers (TCC) includes four child care centers in Cambridge and one in Lexington. Full-time and part-time infant, toddler, and preschool care are available, with a limited number of slots for graduate student families.

  • Graduate students with school age children are often looking for affordable programs that meet the needs of their busy academic life. Visit Graduate Residential Life to see a listing of enrichment programs offered by MIT.

Cambridge Public Schools

All Cambridge schools offer a variety of excellent programs,from English immersion programs to longer day programs. The challenge is to figure out which school fits the needs of your family and child. We recommend starting the process as early as possible. Please note families must live in the city or town in which they plan to enroll their children in public school.

Cambridge Public Schools also offer a variety of after school programs depending on where your child goes to school will depend on what programs they can attend and the costs.
